About this place
Two of Africa's great rivers join at Lokoja, and you can see the join: the Niger runs pale with sediment, the Benue darker, and for a stretch below the confluence they run side by side without mixing. Lugard administered the Northern Protectorate from here, which is why the town has colonial bones. Mount Patti above it is the best view in central Nigeria.
